ASMA UL HUSNA 22



Al-Khafid
The Abaser, He who diminishes or decreases.
When that which must come to pass at last comes to pass,
there will be nought that could give the lie
to its having come to pass, abasing some, exalting others.
Al-Waqi'ah 56:103, tr. Asad

God has made reputation heavy as a thousand pounds of iron.
So many are bound in that unseen chain!
Pride and lack of faith block the doorway of repentance
so that the one in separation can't even utter a sigh.
God said, "We have put chains around their necks chin high,
and forced them to lift up their heads."
Those chains aren't put on us from outside.

This name may be recited 1481 times for any legitimate desire. Regular recitation of this name will humiliate one's enemies. It has also been narrated by ulema that enemies cannot harm if recited against them.

Al-Basit
The Reliever, He who is the expander.
Have We not opened up thy heart,
and lifted from thee the burden that had weighed so heavily on thy back?
And have We not raised thee high in dignity?
And, behold, with every hardship comes ease:
verily, with every hardship comes ease!
Hence, when thou art freed from distress,
remain steadfast, and unto thy Sustainer turn with love.
Ash-Sharh 94, tr. Asad

Sometimes, in order to help, He makes us miserable;
but heartache for His sake brings happiness.
Laughter will come after tears.
Whoever foresees this is a servant blessed by God.
Wherever water flows, life flourishes:
wherever tears fall, Divine mercy is shown.

If after reciting this Holy Name ten times daily at dawn with one's arms raised, one rubs hand on ones face he will for ever be free from asking anybody for anything. It is also recommended to be recited 72 times after Wajib Prayer, specially after morning prayer.

Al-Qabid
The constrictor, He who constricts.
Art thou not aware of thy Sustainer through His works? --
how He causes the shadow to lengthen towards the night
when, had He so willed, He could indeed have made it stand still:
but then, We have made the sun its guide;
and then, after having caused it to lengthen,
We draw it in towards Ourselves with a gradual drawing-in.
Al-Furqan 25:45, tr. Asad

This discipline and rough treatment are a furnace
to extract the silver from the dross.
This testing purifies the gold
by boiling the scum away.

If written this name along with Ya Hafeez on a piece of bread and eaten regularly for forty days the person will not suffer from pangs of hunger. If recited 11 times for enemy, the enemy will be subdued.

Al-Alim
The All Knowing, He who is all-knowing.
Such is He who knows all that is beyond the reach
of a created being's perception,
as well as all that can be witnessed by a creature's senses or mind;
the Almighty, the Dispenser of Grace,
who makes most excellent everything that He creates.
As-Sajdah 32:6-7, tr. Asad

If recited 10 times after every Wajib (obligatory) Prayer the person will be aware of secrets of nature. If recited a great deal the person will recognize Almighty God. If recited 21 times daily, the person will become a learned man, If this name is written on a piece of bread and eaten for 40 days the person will never have to starve.

Al-Fattah
The Opener, He who opens the solution to all problems, and eliminates obstacles.
O our Sustainer!
Lay Thou open the truth between us and our people --
for Thou art the best of all to lay open the truth!
Al-A'raf 7:89, tr. Asad

If one recites this Holy Name 70 times after Morning Prayer keeping hand on the chest, the Almighty Allah shall remove curtains from his mind [i.e. his perceptive qualities shall become developed]. Also for every type of task the recitation of this name is beneficial. If recited 21 times after every Wajib Prayers. All worries will be removed.

Ar-Razzaq
The Provider, He who provides all things beneficial to His creatures.
It is God who has made the earth a resting-place for you
and the sky a canopy,
and has formed you -- and formed you so well --
and provided for you sustenance out of the good things of life.
Such is God, your Sustainer:
hallowed, then, is God, the Sustainer of all the worlds!
Ghafir 40:64, tr. Asad

Look at every animal from the gnat to the elephant:
they all are God's family
and dependent on Him for their nourishment.
What a nourisher is God!
All these griefs within our hearts
arise from the smoke and dust
of our existence and vain desires.
Mathnawi I:2295-2296, tr. Helminski

If recited 11 times after Wajib Prayer, the person will have never to worry about his/her sustenance. If recited regularly a great deal, the sustenance will be increased by Almighty Allah. Before morning Prayer if this name is recited 10 times on each corner of the house, starting from Qiblah side, there will be abundance of sustenance.

ASMA UL HUSNA 16



Al-Wahhab
The Giver of All, He who donates all blessings to his creatures.
My Sustainer has endowed me (Moses)
with the ability to judge between right and wrong,
and has made me one of His message-bearers.
Ash-Shu'ara 26:21, tr. Asad

Recitation of this Holy Name is very beneficial to obtain repeated bounties. If one recited this Holy name 14 times in prostration (Sajda) God will make him rich. If one recited this Holy Name one hundred times at the last portion of the night with his hands raised recitation of this name many times make the person prosperous as well as popular in the public.
